Pix'L

Born to a Mauritian father and a Reunionese mother, Pix'L grew up on Reunion Island listening to jazz, soul and rhythm'n'blues. He showed an early interest in singing, and was only eleven when he turned to hip-hop culture, inspired by American rappers Eminem and Cypress Hill. Shortly afterwards, he discovered reggae and, drawing on these influences, decided to embark on his first recordings. With his high-school friend Mighty Lion, he formed the reggae and dancehall group RasK in 2007, and trained both in the studio and in public performances. With the arrival of MC Kérozen, a touch of hip-hop was added to the line-up, and the cocktail hit home with a wider audience thanks to the magic of the internet and increasingly masterful performances. Performing both solo and with RasK, Pix'L has thus become one of the spearheads of the Reunion scene: after taking part in numerous festivals and seeing his stock soar, in 2016 he released a solo project entitled Nouveau Départ.
