Monsters Build Mean Robots

Brighton’s Monsters Build Mean Robots make music that is dramatic and dynamic, layered thick with the textures of electronic sounds and guitar loops. Inspired by instrumental post-rockers Godspeed You Black Emperor! and named after a lyric in A Silver Mt. Zion's “Horses in the Sky,” the band was originally formed as a side project by members of Court of Hidden Faces and Last Days of Lorca. After releasing their self-titled debut on Nice Weather for Airstrikes Records in 2007, Monsters Build Mean Robots expanded from a traditional lineup to include vocalists, a cellist, and a violinist, and started writing music tailored toward their energetic live shows, which had become less reliant on laptop beats. In August of 2011 the band released a sprawling five-song follow-up, titled WeShouldHaveDestroyedOurGeneralsNotTheirEnemies.
