Melvin Crispell, III
Melvin Crispell III is a Grammy-nominated gospel singer who kickstarted his music career in 2019, when he became the winner of the BET singing competition Sunday Best. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1998. Raised by a musical family whose members included organist Melvin Crispell and celebrated gospel singer Tunesha Crispell, Crispell began singing at a young age. Both of his parents passed away while he was still a high school student, and the traumatic experience strengthened his connection to music as well as the church. He combined both loves in his blooms career as a gospel singer, which found him reaching a new level of renown when he won the ninth season of the gospel show Sunday Best in 2019. Signing with RCA, he released the debut single "Wonderful Is Your Name" in 2020. The song reached Number 1 on the Billboard Gospel Digital Song Sales chart. It also appeared on Crispell's debut album, I've Got A Testimony. The live album No Failure followed in 2023. Also in 2023, Crispell earned a Grammy nomination for "Best Gospel Performance/Song" with "God Is" and debuted at number 37 on the Top 50 Radio Christian Songs chart with his holiday single "The First Noel."
