Laurneá
US neo-soul singer-songwriter Laurneá – born Laurneá Wilkerson – started her career singing with the Grammy-winning hip-hop group Arrested Development and UK R&B trio Loose Ends. She went solo in 1997 and for her debut album, Betta Listen, worked with respected producers including Raphael Saddiq and Speech. The jazzy R&B album yielded two hit singles, "Can't Let Go" and "Infatuation", and was followed by a second album in 2000, Laurneá II. Three more albums emerged over the six years, including 2006 compilation The Collection. Wilkerson has also enjoyed a successful acting career, appearing in Spike Lee's School Daze and Bill Duke's 1997 crime drama Hoodlum, where she played the role of Ella Fitzgerald.
