Larry Crane

Larry Crane was John Mellencamp's sideman from the Chestnut Street Incident days of 1976 through the completion of Big Daddy in 1989. Over the years, he played lead guitar and various other stringed instruments, while adding a great deal to the overall flavor of each John Mellencamp album. His last visible collaboration with Mellencamp was the Falling From Grace soundtrack on which Crane wrote four songs, including "Whiskey Burnin'," which he recorded as a solo project. This was only a sign of things to come as he released the five-song solo EP Eye for an Eye two years later and his Larry Crane CD in 1994. He has been a local favorite in Indiana, but has not received the worldwide attention that he once had in the John Mellencamp band.
