Jon Mayer Trio
b. c.1938, New York City, New York, USA. Meyer’s professional career caught fire in the late 50s when he played piano with Jackie McLean and John Coltrane. During the following decade he moved into free jazz but was uncomfortable with the form. During this same period he had personal problems which eventually drove him from the scene for a long while. By the mid-90s he was well and truly back in business, and from a base in Los Angeles had begun to re-establish himself as a musician of consequence and a pianist of fire and flair.
