Fred Thomas
“A boundary-blurring composer and improviser” – Gramophone Magazine
Fred Thomas is one of London’s most sought after multi-instrumentalists and composer/arranger/producers, known for his breadth of musical styles as well as for specialising in creative re-interpretations of J.S. Bach.
Having previously appeared on both the ECM jazz and classical labels, Thomas's ECM debut as leader was 'Three or One', 24 pieces by J.S. Bach which he transcribed for trio and solo piano. He has collaborated with a huge variety of artists across live and recorded music, including producing and performing on cellist Abel Selaocoe's critically acclaimed debut album on Warner Classics, 'Where is Home'.
With a discography of over fifty albums across various genres, Thomas's arrangements and transcriptions are published by Edition Wilhelm Hansen.
