Eastlink
Eastlink are an underground rock supergroup from Australia who deliver a wild, punishing attack with four guitars, a drum kit, and few musical boundaries. Named for an infamous section of freeway near Melbourne that had a ruinous environmental impact on the Mullum Mullum Valley and is riddled with poorly executed public art, Eastlink were formed by Al Montfort of UV Race, Total Control, and Straightjacket Nation, who was eager to play loud, minimal rock & roll with his friends Zephyr Pavey (who also plays in Total Control as well as Strength Within) and Johan Rashid (of Home Travel and Promised Land). While Montfort played guitar in UV Race, he was eager to switch over to drums for Eastlink, with Pavey and Rashid on guitars; after a few sessions as a trio, Montfort expanded the group to a quintet with the addition of guitarists Ben Hepworth (from Interzone and Repairs) and Lee Parker (with Teargas, Spitehouse, and Lakes). In 2012, fledgling label Creep Dreams released the first product from Eastlink, a self-titled seven-song cassette, and in 2013, two songs from the tape were reissued on a limited-edition vinyl 7" from Aarght Records. Another two songs from the Creep Dreams cassette were sent out on a vinyl single from the American indie imprint In the Red Records, and in May 2014, ITR issued Eastlink's first full-length album, simply titled Eastlink.
