CL
South Korean superstar CL (Lee Chae-rin) is a rapper, singer-songwriter, and former member of one of the biggest South Korean girl groups of all time. Born in Seoul on February 26th, 1991, as a child CL lived in Tsukuba, Tokyo, and later Paris, where she ended up studying for two years as a teenager. Setting her sights on a career in the South Korean music industry, she auditioned to join entertainment behemoth YG Entertainment aged 15 and scored her first feature on Big Bang's "Intro (Hot Issue)" in 2007, with her name officially appearing in the credits for Uhm Jung-hwa's "DJ" two years later, where she was first able to flex her rap skills. In 2013, she made waves with her debut solo single "The Baddest Female," which was produced by long-time collaborator and fellow YG Entertainment label mate Teddy Park and made it into the top five on the Gaon Digital Chart. In 2009, she stepped out as the main rapper and leader of girl group 2NE1 and remained an active member until their departure from the scene in 2016. CL's first EP, In the Name of Love, came in 2019 and her long-awaited debut studio album, Alpha, followed two years later. That year, she picked up the Female Solo Singer Popularity Award at the Asia Artist Awards.
