Cheryl Cole
Born and raised in Newcastle upon Tyne, Cheryl Tweedy, as she was then known, began dancing lessons aged four. She won a number of modelling competitions as a child, starred in several adverts, and also attended a Royal Ballet Summer School at the age of nine.
Cheryl's big break came in 2002, when she took part in the TV show 'Popstars: The Rivals' and won a place in the group Girls Aloud which became a huge success with 20 top ten UK Singles including four number ones. Cheryl joined the panel of the UK version of TV show 'The Voice' in 2008. She became the face of L'Oreal in 2009, appearing on their adverts until 2018.
In 2009, Girls Aloud announced that they were going to have a break for a year and Cheryl took the opportunity to release a solo album '3 Words' which spent two weeks at number one in the UK Albums Chart. She had previously featured as a backing vocalist on will.i.am's track 'Heartbreaker' in 2008, and she went on to collaborate with him again on several tracks on '3 Words'. Cheryl had her first number one solo single in the UK Singles Chart with 'Fight for This Love' in 2009.

She toured the UK and Ireland with material from this album on her 'A Million Lights' tour. Girls Aloud also reunited in this year, releasing a single for their 10th Anniversary entitled 'Something New'.
Cheryl has had two books published: 'Through My Eyes' in 2010, which is a series of photographs taken of her in various different places, for example in recording studios, on the X-Factor and at awards ceremonies. She has released her own fragrance and formed two charities, also raising money for other good causes such as The Prince's Trust and Comic Relief. She has become a huge celebrity in the UK and is seen as a style icon and fashionista, appearing on the covers of Vogue and Elle amongst other publications.
Cheryl married England footballer Ashley Cole in 2006, and she used her married name as a stage name for the duration of this marriage. Since their divorce in 2010, she has reverted to being known by her first name only.
