Charlie Hickey
California singer/songwriter Charlie Hickey brings together indie introspection with soft rock delivery, crafting confessional songs that examine emotionally heavy subjects but render them with a light touch. His connections with other like-minded artists include Phoebe Bridgers, who signed Hickey to her Saddest Factory label for the release of his 2022 debut full-length, Nervous at Night.
Hickey grew up in Pasadena, California, born into a musical family with parents who formerly toured in the band Uma. He was writing his own songs early on, and at age 13 he met Phoebe Bridgers (still in high school herself and early in her rise to fame) after covering one of her songs. Bridgers introduced Hickey to producer Marshall Vore, and by the time Hickey was in his early twenties, the two had become regular collaborators. He signed to Bridgers' Saddest Factory label, and Bridgers sang on two songs on his 2021 debut EP, Count the Stairs. His first album, Nervous at Night, surfaced the next year and was also released on Saddest Factory.
