Chakra

Erstwhile South Korean girl group Chakra (Korean: 샤크라) formed in 2000 and launched their career with their first Indian music-inspired single "Han." Initially comprising four members Hwangbo, Eun, Ryeown, and Eani, under this lineup the group released their first solo album Come A Come the year of their formation, which was propelled by the single "Come A Come," "Hey You" and "Sign of Love." The album went to number six in South Korea and led critics to name the group Best New Artist at several major South Korean music award ceremonies in 2000: SBS Music Awards (Best Female Rookie), Golden Disk Awards (Best Female Rookie) Mnet Asian Music Awards (Best New Group). Eani left the group in 2001 and was replaced the following year by new member Bona. A second album Chakra'ca arrived in 2001 with the single "End" earning the group the title of Popular Dressed Singer Award at the SBS Music Awards that year. For their dance-oriented self-titled third album of 2002, the group won the Best Dance Award for "The"—a feat they repeated the following year—while the album became their best-selling to date. Chakra called it quits following the release of Tomato, their fourth and final album, which went to number 13 in South Korea.
