Brentwood Duo

Distinguished by their crisp vocal harmonies, Brentwood Duo are siblings Finley and Isla Brentwood, who make spare acoustic pop. Raised in Arrowtown, New Zealand, they relocated to Melbourne, Australia in 2014 to pursue music full-time. After finding steady work at events like weddings and corporate functions, their first taste of the limelight came in early 2016 when actor Ryan Reynolds posted their YouTube acoustic cover of "Deadpool Rap" to his Twitter account. The intentionally vulgar track was originally recorded by Teamheadkick for the Deadpool soundtrack, which was released alongside the hit action film in February 2016. Within a matter of weeks, Brentwood Duo would appear on Deadpool Reloaded, an album of covers and remixes of the soundtrack. The duo went on to compete on the Australian edition of reality TV show The X Factor in the fall of 2016. With both singing to Finley's acoustic guitar, they finished tied for sixth place under mentor Iggy Azalea. The Brentwoods used the exposure to book shows across Australia, and continued to upload new live covers of popular artists to YouTube, including songs by Shawn Mendes, Major Lazer, and Twenty One Pilots.
