B.I is the pseudonym of South Korean rapper and songwriter Kim Han-bin (October 22, 1996) who rose to fame as the leader of boy band iKon in the mid 2010s. Born in the Gyeonggi province, he landed his first feature in 2009 on MC Mong’s “Indian Boy” and then became a trainee under YG Entertainment in 2011, participating on the survival reality shows WIN: Who Is Next (2013), Show Me the Money 3 (2014), and Mix & Match (2014). The latter spawned the boy group iKon, who made their official debut in 2015 with the album Welcome Back. He then went on to collaborate with Psy on the singer’s 2017 single “Bomb” and made an appearance on Lee Hi’s single “No One” in 2019. That same year, he quit iKon and terminated his contract with YG Entertainment after he was accused of trying to buy drugs from an undisclosed dealer. In 2021, B.I officially launched his solo career with the album Midnight Blue (Love Streaming), which peaked at number 14 on the Circle Albums Chart and whose proceeds were donated to support children in need through the religious nonprofit organization World Vision. Waterfall, his studio debut, came out later that year and reached number 6 in South Korea and number 44 in Japan. This success was followed by the release of the Top 5 entry Cosmos in November of that year. In 2022, B.I unveiled the extended play Love or Loved Part.1, reaching number 11 in South Korea. A second album titled To Die For appeared in June 2023, followed by Love or Loved Part.2 in November. 2024 saw the release of his first Japanese extended play, Tadaima (ただいま). Preceded by the singles "Kowai" and "Wish You Were Here," the EP climbed to number 12 on the Oricon Albums Chart and featured guest spots by Chanmina and Sky-Hi.
