杨坤

Born in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, China on December18, 1972, Yang Kun is a singer songwriter who has also served as a coach or judge on several televised talent competitions including The Voice of China and Sing My Song. He began his music career when he moved to Beijing in 1993, but it still took several years before he released his debut album, Indifferent, in 2001. The album proved to be a success and Yang Kun won several awards from the Southeastern Music Chart Awards and the Asian Billboard Awards. He followed that success with the albums That Day (2003) and 2008 (2005). After dealing with issues behind the scenes – including battling depression and problems with his record label – he returned in 2007 with the album Cowboy, which was another success. His self-titled album from 2009 included his huge hit “Empty City,” which has been viewed several million times on social media. With this renewed popularity, he made many appearances on television and kickstarted his career as an actor. In 2012, he became a coach on first season of the popular TV show The Voice of China (he would return as a coach on season three). His 2014 album 20 Years Old Tonight featured the hit single “Answer,” a duet with Amber Kuo. Yang Kun continued to host various TV shows while also releasing successful albums such as Lonely (2017) and Beautiful Story (2020). Setting aside coaching, hosting, or judging duties, he appeared as a contestant on the televised talent competition Singer 2019,where he came in fourth place.
