Zbatata
Led by Rachid Benattia, Anthony Chikri and Habib Mazem (Skyzzy, RLG and M.A.Z respectively), the group Zbatata, which owes its name to a Marseille expression meaning "Stop telling me what to do", made its mark on the French rap scene in 2011. That's when the group from Marseilles released their debut album À la Zbat, followed in 2014 by Vrais Reconnaissent vrais. It was on the promotional tour for the latter album that the three men saw their momentum halted by a burglary case for which they were sentenced to eight months in prison in January 2016, just as their new single, the controversial "Femme de voyou", whose lyrics clearly evoke the daily life of a drug dealer, was entering the hexagonal charts. It confirms the new dimension taken by Zbatata, whom producer Tefa took under his wing in 2015 and whom rap heavyweight Booba has publicly adored. Their street album Mauvais Garçons is due in 2016.
