Secteur A

Secteur Ä is a collective emblematic of the golden age of French rap in the mid-nineties. Formed in the wake of Minister A.M.E.R., Secteur Ä brings together artists from Sarcelles and the Val-d'Oise region. With Passi, Stomy Bugsy, Doc Gynéco, Ärsenik (Lino and Calbo), Neg' Marrons (Jacky, Ben J, Djamatik), Hamed Daye and MC Janik in its ranks, Secteur Ä brings together a good part of the vital forces of French rap. Led by Jérôme Ebella aka Kenzy, Secteur Ä oversees the projects of its various members. In May 1998, the members of Secteur Ä gave two famous concerts at the Olympia to mark the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery. Live à l'Olympia is Secteur Ä's only proper album, and it reached no. 6 in the French album charts. Despite the arrival of Pit Baccardi in 1999, Secteur Ä lost some of its most prominent members, with the survivors regrouping to form Noyau Dur.
