Scalping

Melding the industrial throb of techno with feedback-driven guitars of post-punk, Bristol-based four-piece Scalping's 2019 debut evokes the smoke-filled dancefloors of underground clubs along with the energy of crowd-filled D.I.Y. punk venues. Formed in 2017 and taking their inspiration from Bristol's own Howling Owl collective -- most notably fellow genre-crossing duo Giant Swan -- Scalping brought together their love of moody, throbbing techno with guitars, drums, and bass. With their early live shows slowly becoming legendary for their intense workouts, the group found a home for their first recordings with London-based label Council Records. Their debut single, Chamber, appeared at the beginning of 2019, and featured remixes from the likes of Bruce and October. The group also hit the road that summer with dates at the Glastonbury and Green Man festivals.
