Psychic Markers

London-based psych-pop band Psychic Markers began as ragtag group with psychedelic tendencies before transforming into a fully established cosmic pop band. The members of Psychic Markers -- Alannah Ashworth, Lewis Baker, Steven Dove, Leon Dufficy, and Luke Jarvis -- originally played in other bands, at times even in other countries. They found common ground through their love of psych and would casually make music together when they were able to; this resulted in a low-key debut album, Scrap Book No. 1, in 2014. A few years of playing gigs together cemented the core sound of the group, which shone through on their more accomplished second album, Hardly Strangers, in 2018. With their creative spark still burning brightly, a third album began to materialize in 2019, but it was Psychic Markers' self-titled 2020 album that proved their most self-defining to date, balancing electronic and cinematic elements with catchy psych-pop. Although separated by the COVID-19 pandemic, Dove and Dufficy sent tracks back and forth to each other -- between London and Paris -- during lockdowns. Through this process they put together their fourth album, Blue Dreams or Sucre de la Pasteque; the record deviated slightly from their past output as Dove and Dufficy each wrote and recorded half of the record before merging their ideas.
