OOHYO
South Korean singer Oohyo, born Woo Hyo-eun on March 20, 1993, issued her debut EP, Girl Sense, in 2014 with her sound already established—synth-driven pop and a felicity with both English and Korean lyrics that helped her build a substantial following. Additionally, though she thrived in the packaged world of Korean pop music, Oohyo stood out for writing her own songs, a practice she would continue throughout her early career. Her debut LP, Adventure, dropped in 2015 and climbed to number 24 on the Korean charts. She followed that up with a series of single including Dandelion, a 2017 cut which proved to have long legs on the charts. Her sophomore album, Far From the Madding City, was released in April of 2019, and she closed out the decade with the December 2019 single “Butter Chicken”.
