Les gendarmes

Les Gendarmes are a Quebec pop group founded in 1961 in Dolbeau (Canada) by Laurier Desbiens, André Girard, Michel Girard, Guy Harvey and Laurent Rivard. The group was formed in 1961, under the name Les Kambo. For the next four years, the group covered the major hits of the American Billboard charts, as well as doing a few French adaptations. The band arrived in Montreal in 1964, and took Dominique Mandanice as their manager. The following year, they adopted the group name Les Gendarmes, with their costumes inspired by French policemen. The group released its first single in 1965, with the titles " Reviens vers moi " and " Il fait bon d'avoir 20 ans ". In 1966, the group released an eponymous album, five songs of which reached the Quebec radio charts: " Dans mon cœur ", " Ne me quitte pas ", " Petit démon ", " Reviens vers moi " and " Vivre sans toi ". In September 1967, Les Gendarmes abandoned their costumes, and in 1968 launched the album Tu Devrais être une Jolie Fille . Once again, five songs made the Quebec charts. The group disbanded the same year, following the decline of the Quebec group wave.
