Kuchen

Former Pale Saints (and early member of Lush) guitarist and vocalist Meriel Barham unveiled her Kuchen moniker in late 2001 with a full-length album on the respected Karaoke Kalk label of Germany. The accomplished Kids With Sticks was the culmination of the Leeds, England, native's infatuation with electronic music of the delicate variety which includes acoustic elements, falling in line with the likes of Manual and Phonem. Although it was something of a surprise, Barham's transition from shoegaze to ambient electronic productions really wasn't much of a drastic shift at all, considering the atmospheric, subversively melodic nature of both styles.
