Korey Dane

California singer/songwriter Korey Dane makes rootsy, literate folk and indie rock. Born in Southern California in 1989, Dane grew up in and around Long Beach with his mechanic father and English teacher mother. He first began playing guitar at age 15, and by his twenties, he'd formed a creative partnership with singer/songwriter Tess Shapiro. Together, Dane and Shapiro recorded two well-received independent albums (2009's For the Kite Flyers and 2010's Loomer) before parting ways. Refocusing on his solo work, Dane eventually joined forces with guitarist Aaron Embry and a handful of like-minded instrumentalists to help flesh out his songs. The resulting album, 2015's Youngblood, featured production from Tony Berg (Edie Brickell, Michael Penn, Aimee Mann), and included background vocals from Z. Berg and Chris Stills. In 2017, Dane returned with his sophomore full-length album, Chamber Girls, featuring the singles, "Half Asleep," and "Lovesick In a Hotel Wildfire."
