谭维维
Widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted vocalists in Chinese Mandopop, singer and actress Tan Weiwei (also known as Sitar Tan) was born on October 8, 1982, in Fushun County, Sichuan. A classically trained performer, she entered the Sichuan Conservatory of Music at the age of 19 and studied traditional singing techniques under the tutelage of Lanka Dolma. After releasing her studio debut Heart of the Highland in 2005, Sitar Tan rose to fame in the third season of the televised singing contest Super Girl (2006), where she finished runner-up to Laure Shang Wenjie. She followed this success with a series of pop-oriented, critically acclaimed albums that included Ear of the World (2007), Legend (2009), Tan Mou Mou (2010), 3 (2011), and Tortoise Called Achilles (2013). Released in 2020, her outspoken seventh studio album 3811 celebrated female empowerment by touching on sensitive subjects such as domestic violence, gender inequality, and homophobia.
