ShiGGa Shay

ShiGGa Shay is the stage name of Singaporean hip-hop artist, songwriter, and producer Pek Jin Shen. Born on September 12, 1992, he began rapping onstage as a teenager and recorded his first mixtape, 2010's ShiGGa Shay's in the Building, in his childhood bedroom. An EP, They Call Me ShiGGa, appeared in 2012 and was followed by 2013's "LimPeh," a trilingual track that topped the singles charts in Singapore. That same year, he co-founded the hip-hop collection Grizzle Grind Crew with fellow artists DJ NashD and OszKid. After serving his mandatory time in the Singaporean armed services, he released his debut album as a solo artist, the self-titled ShiGGa Shay, in 2015. Meanwhile, Grizzle Grind Crew's roster grew to include eighteen Singaporean rappers, with ShiGGa Shay serving as the group's kingpin and co-producer. Following the release of Grizzle Grind Crew's debut mixtape, Leaders of the New Skool, the group made a bigger splash with 2016's "Last Warning," a diverse single featuring lyrics in English, Hokkien, Mala, and Hindi. ShiGGa Shay maintained an active solo career with non-album singles like "Paiseh" and "if I," during the late 2010s, then releasing another full-length album, S$, in 2020.
