Jaden Michaels

Approaching country music with the same intimate lyrical style as her work in other genres, singer Jaden Michaels established herself as a pop songwriter throughout the 2010s before releasing her first country-pop single, "Preach," in 2017. In the meantime, she contributed to songs for American Idol contestants including Jessica Sanchez and Nick Fradiani as well as co-writing material for Carly Rae Jepsen, JoJo, and Lea Michele, just to name a few. Behind the microphone, she has also worked as a backup singer and was a featured vocalist on tracks by EDM artists Tritonal and Quix. Michaels released her eponymous debut EP in 2021. Born Brittany Lynn Scriven in Davenport, Iowa, Jaden Michaels is the older sister of singer and songwriter Julia Michaels. She moved to Los Angeles as a teenager and got her first publishing deal at 19. Her writing breakthrough came with the Japanese hit "Love Game," released by Namie Amuro in 2009. As a vocalist, Michaels was featured on two tracks on Tye Tribbett's 2010 album, Fresh, and she sang backup for Demi Lovato's 2011 LP, Unbroken. Her songwriting credits over the next few years included songs for Carly Rae Jepsen, Lea Michele, Australian Idol's Jessica Mauboy, and American Idol's Candice Glover, including Glover's debut single, "I Am Beautiful" (co-written with Joleen Belle). Michaels released her own single, the pop song "Walk On," in 2014. Continuing to find steady work as a songwriter, she wrote material issued by South Korean group Red Velvet in 2015, and 2016 saw the release of songs Michaels co-penned for Nick Fradiani, contemporary Christian artist Britt Nicole, and dance-pop singer JoJo. That year, her singing was featured on "Running into Me" by EDM duo Tritonal. In mid-2017, Michaels re-emerged as a solo artist with the single "Preach," her debut as a country singer. Co-written with Steve Mostyn (Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys) and Alex Niceforo (Britney Spears, Chord Overstreet), "Behave" followed in late 2018. That year, she was also featured on the club song "Giving Up" by Quix. Michaels gave birth to a daughter in 2019. The next few years were quiet for her. She re-emerged in 2021 with an eponymous EP; she also was featured on "Real," a single by Bryan Todd.
