Errol Dixon
The ultra-fast piano playing of the early-twentieth century has continued to infuse the music of pianist, Errol Dixon. Inspired by New Orleans pianist Jelly Roll Morton (1890-1941), Dixon's repertoire combines boogie-woogie, gospel, swing, soul and piano blues.
Born in Jamaica, Dixon moved to New York with his parents, at the age of twelve. The blues and jazz emanating out of the clubs of Harlem captivated his interest.
Launching his professional career after moving to London, in the mid-1950s, Dixon scored a number one hit with his debut single, "Midnight Train", in 1960. Dixon's resume includes collaborations with Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup, B.B. King and Muddy Waters.
