Byron Messia
Byron Messia injects dancehall with touches of modernized soul, creating a smooth and seductive sound with heavy pop appeal. His song "Talibans" from his 2023 album No Love became such a runaway hit that Burna Boy jumped on a remix in the form of "Talibans II," which became the first song from a Saint Kitts and Nevis artist to crack the Billboard Top 100 chart.
Messia was born in Jamaica but relocated to Saint Kitts and Nevis shortly after birth. He began making music as a teenager, and his early releases included projects like 2018 full length S.I.G.H. and 2020 album Different Perspectives. He continued releasing singles and various projects, but broke through on a bigger commercial level with 2023 album No Love, released by Geffen subsidiary Ztekk Records. Messia's song "Talibans" from that album quickly caught on internationally, gaining him new levels of exposure and winning new fans like global pop stars Dave and Burna Boy. Burna Boy loved the song so much he appeared on a reworking of the tune called "Talibans II" which debuted at number 99 on the Billboard charts in August of 2023. Shortly afterwards he released new song "Tropicana," a collaboration with Rvssian.
