Валерия

Alla Perfilova, known under the stage name Valeriya, was born in the small town of Atkarsk in RSFSR (now - Russian Federation) in 1968. She now is one of the brightest pop stars in the Russian show business. From the 80s’, the singer performed under her real name but in 1991, with the help of her producer Alexander Shulgin who created the stage name Valeriya, her career had taken off. In 1995, the single « Моя Москва » ("My Moscow") along with the album Анна (Anna) written by her manager Alexsander Shulgin became Valeriya’s first serious artistic success. She released two more albums produced by Shulgin – Фамилия (Family Name. Part 1, 1997) and Глаза цвета неба (Eyes the Color of Heaven, 2001) before the conflict between the singer and the manager ended up in the termination of the contract between them. In 2003, Valeriya signed a deal with another producer, Iosif Prigozhin. Her new album Страна любви (Loveland), released in 2003, performed in sales better than all her previous albums put together. In 2007, Valeriya decided to quit touring Russia and announced her focus on the Western music market. Her album Неподконтрольно (Out of Control) of the same year had two versions, English and Russian, and had been produced in collaboration with well-known musicians, like Robin Gibb (Bee Gees) with whom he recorded a cover version of "Stayin’ Alive". She became the first Russian singer to appear on the cover of Billboard magazine (2008) in a relation to her highly successful track "Wild!". Between 2010 and 2017, the singer released 7 records – 4 studio albums and 3 compilations. Valeriya is a recipient of the highest artistic titles such as Merited Artist of Russia (2005) and People’s Artist of Russia (2013).
