Diana Krall s'était déjà essayée à la bossa nova, mais son album Quiet Nights (2009) est le premier qu'elle consacre aux rythmes brésiliens. Sur cet opus, elle collabore à nouveau avec l'arrangeur Claus Ogerman, qui travaillait régulièrement avec le parrain de la bossa nova, Antonio Carlos Jobim. Diana Krall propose une collection de titres sensuels et indolents qui rappelle l'album sophistiqué et détendu que Jobim avait enregistré avec Frank Sinatra, et que Claus Ogerman avait également dirigé et arrangé. L'album est peut-être un peu trop classique, car la chanteuse ne fait qu'interpréter les chansons populaires, mais elle plane si merveilleusement bien au-dessus du voile de musique qu'elle est vite pardonnée. Après tout, tout n'a pas besoin d'être retravaillé. Une réplique peut parfois suffire.
