YovngChimi

Puerto Rican rapper Yovngchimi fuses Latin trap and drill, delivering determined yet cool-headed rhymes about his street experiences. He quickly became a rising force in the Latin rap scene with his 2021 debut single "Glizzy Walk" and its sequels, and soon worked with other major figures like Ñengo Flow, Anuel AA, and Ozuna. 2023 saw the release of the mixtape Gangsta Grillz: Mvrda Gvng, the Bad Bunny collaboration "Mercedes Carota," and the full-length WLGS. Angel Javier Aviles Monzón was born in San Juan. He briefly attended college in California before eventually returning to Puerto Rico, where he started pursuing a rap career. His debut single as Yovngchimi, "Glizzy Walk," appeared in early 2021, and was followed by additional tracks like "ATL" and "Glizzy Walk 2.0," which caught the attention of fellow rappers like Myke Towers. Yovngchimi rapidly ascended in popularity with 2022 singles like "Baby Father" and "Glizzy Walk 2.5" (with Eladio Carrión), both of which featured Hydro. Later in the year, he released songs with Yeruza, Ñengo Flow, Anuel AA, and others. His first mixtape, the DJ Drama-hosted Gangsta Grillz: Mvrda Gvng, arrived in May of 2023, and Yovngchimi was soon featured on tracks by heavyweights J Balvin and Bad Bunny. WLGS, the rapper's debut album, appeared in December and included guests such as Ozuna, French Montana, Tay Keith, and Lunay.
