Yoojung Kim

Yoojung Kim is a Korean virtuoso pianist known for her poetic and dramatic interpretations of Scriabin and other composers of the late Romantic era. She also teaches at NYU Steinhardt and has given master classes at several universities. In her late teens, she studied with Nikolai Demidenko and Ruth Nye at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey, England. This was followed by undergraduate studies at the Royal College of Music, where she received the Queen Elizabeth, queen mother scholarship. She then completed her master’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music, and her PhD from NYU Steinhardt. Also dedicated to teaching, she taught at the Greenwich House of Music in New York before her appointment at NYU Steinhardt. As a performer, she has appeared throughout the U.S., Europe, and South Korea with artists such as Yehudi Menuhin, Tania León, and the New York Philharmonic. Her 2023 release, Scriabin: Piano Sonatas 2, 3 & 4; Fantaisie, Op. 28, received enthusiastic reviews from critics.
