Vishal–Shekhar
Formed in Mumbai, India in 1999, Vishal & Shekhar are a Hindi cinema songwriting and production duo. Composed of songwriter and playback singer Vishal Dadlani (born June 28, 1973) and music director, producer, and singer Shekhar Ravjiani (born November 29, 1978), the duo’s first project together was composing the soundtrack for the 1999 film Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, with many more to follow. They first came to prominence in 2003 when the provided all the songs for the hit film Jhankaar Beats, which included the hit “Tu Aashiqui Hai”. In total, the duo has provided music for more than 350 Indian films including Bluffmaster (2005), Anjaana Anjaana (2008) and Student of the Year (2012). While they predominantly provide Hindi language tracks for the films, they have also provided songs in the Teluga, Marathi, and English languages. Their most successful recording is “Nashe Si Chad Gayi” (2016), a song that has been streamed on social media more than 650 million times. Outside of his work in the duo, Vashal Dadlani is also the vocalist for Indian electronic group Pentagram and has collaborated with Imogen Heap. Vishal & Shekhar have collaborated with other acts including British band the Vamps. The duo has appeared on several TV shows including appearingas judges on the popular talent show Indian Idol Junior.
