Tommy Lefroy

Tommy Lefroy is the Canadian-American duo of Tessa Mouzourakis and Wynter Bethel, a pair of singer/songwriters whose smart, folky indie rock found viral success in 2021. Following the success of their debut EP, Flight Risk, which helped earn them a Juno nomination in Canada, they returned in early 2023 with the follow-up, Rivals EP. Originally from Canada, Mouzourakis first came across Bethel, an American, in Nashville, where they were both trying to forge solo careers. They bonded over a shared love of boygenius after Mouzourakis posted a cover of the band's song "Ketchem, ID" online. Eventually, Mouzourakis moved to London and Bethel to Los Angeles, but in 2021, they began writing and recording together remotely. In a nod to another shared influence, they named their new project after Thomas Langlois Lefroy, the Irish politician widely considered to be the inspiration for Jane Austen's Mr. Darcy character from her classic Pride and Prejudice. With their Austenian moniker, alt-pop vibes, and lush harmonies, Tommy Lefroy made a rapid ascent to popularity, releasing their debut EP, Flight Risk, in 2021 and achieving viral success with their song "The Cause." They continued to amass followers throughout 2022 and were pegged by Norwegian pop star Sigrid to open her tour. They also signed with Canadian indie Pheromone Recordings and released their label debut, "Dog Eat Dog." They even earned a Breakthrough Group of the Year nomination at the 2023 Juno Awards. Tommy Lefroy's second EP, Rivals, appeared that March.
