Stone & Charden
Former husband-and-wife team Stone et Charden were one of the most successful French duos of the early '70s before becoming a major draw on the nostalgia circuit. Eric Charden, best known as a songwriter for the likes of Sylvie Vartan and Johnny Hallyday, first met Parisian chanteuse Annie Gautrat while sitting on the jury of the Miss Beatnik competition she won in 1966. After marrying in the same year, they decided to join forces musically in 1971, and went on to score four number ones before they disbanded and divorced. Reuniting in the late '90s, they went on to headline the Âge Tendre et Têtes de Bois tour, but shortly after being awarded the Légion d'Honneur and the release of comeback covers album Made in France, Charden died of cancer in 2012.
