SKATERS
Although its members came to the city by way of other places, Skaters are a band that have embraced their adopted home of New York City as their muse, infusing their sound with the grit and energy of the kind of post-punk and new wave scenes that thrived in the city decades earlier. Made up of singer Michael Ian Cummings, guitarist Joshua Hubbard, bassist Dan Burke, and drummer Noah Rubin, the band came together in 2011, signing shortly afterwards to Warner Brothers Records after their first wave of shows. Their first EP, Schemers, arrived in 2012, and the band followed it up by heading to the famed Electric Lady Studios to begin work on their first full-length, Manhattan, which appeared in 2014.
