Salyu
Salyu is the stage name of J-pop singer Ayako Mori, born on October 13, 1980. She began studying piano at a very young age and was then enrolled in a choir to regain her lung strength after contracting pneumonia during her elementary school years. In 2000, she made her debut as the fictional singer Lily Chou-Chou on the film All About Lily Chou-Chou. It was her first experience working with musician Takeshi Kobayashi, who would become the producer of her 2005 studio debut, Landmark. Thanks to the success of the single "Valon-1," the album climbed to Number 22 on the Oricon charts. In 2006, she gained nationwide fame after collaborating with Bank Band on the charity single "To U," which peaked at Number 2 in Japan. Preceded by the singles "Name" and "Platform," Salyu's sophomore effort Terminal arrived in 2007 and climbed to Number 2 on the Oricon Singles Chart. Following the release of the compilation Merkmal in 2008, Salyu returned with Maiden Voyage (2010), her first self-produced album. Subsequently, she teamed up with Cornelius on the experimental full-length S(o)un(d)beams (2011) and released a fifth album titled Photogenic in 2012. Android & Human Being, her sixth studio effort, appeared in 2015 and climbed to Number 14 on the Oricon Albums Chart.
