Robert Mitchum
One of the screen's iconic tough-guy actors and a strong candidate for Coolest Man Who Ever Lived, Robert Mitchum is primarily remembered musically for two things. The best is his 1958 single "The Ballad of Thunder Road," a self-penned piece of entirely credible rockabilly tied to (but not featured in) his classic movie about Appalachian bootleggers. But the year before, Mitchum released the bizarre CALYPSO IS LIKE SO, easy listening versions of popular calypso tunes that has since become a tongue-in-cheek favorite of latter-day "exotica" fans. In 1967, Mitchum released a country album, THAT MAN, ROBERT MITCHUM, SINGS.
