Regula

Portugese rapper Regula, whose real name is Nuno Tiago Oliveira Career Cabral Lopes, is a mainstay of hip-hop tuga. He was born in Santa Maria dos Olivais and lived there until he was four, before being moved to Catujal, Loures with his family. He first encountered the Portugese variant of hip-hop, hip-hop tuga, during childhood and began to listen to acts like the Black Company and Da Weasel in the mid-1990s, forming the group Duke Skill in 1996.

In the early 2000s Lopes signed a solo recording contract with Encruzilhada Records and in 2002 released '1ª Jornada' under the name Bellini. He had modest success with the album, thanks in large part to the single 'Vinho Verde', a collaboration with fellow rappers Daniela Carmona and Gonçalo Summers. A second album, 'Tira Teimas', followed in 2005 and Lopes began performing under the name Regula.

2007 saw Lopes release the mixtape 'Kara Davis' and in 2009 he followed up with 'Kara Davis Vol.2 Lisa Chu'. In 2013 he put out 'Gancho' and had a hit on his hands thanks to the track 'Casanova'. A year later he teamed up with Carlao and Fred Ferreira to form the group 5-30 and release an eponymous album and its hit single 'Vício'.

In November 2019, after a period of relative inactivity, Regula came back with 'Júlio César', racking up over a million views on YouTube within its first few weeks of release.
