Quatuor A. Modigliani

Formed in 2003 by four friends and former students of the 2003 National Superior Conservatory of Paris, the Modigliani Quartet (Quatuor Modigliani) has established itself on international stages after winning First Prize awards in three prestigious competitions: the Frits Philips String Quartet competition (2004), the Vittorio Rimbotti competition (2005), and the Young Concert Auditions (2006). The musicians - Philippe Bernard and Loïc Rio (violins), Laurent Marfaing (viola), and François Kieffer (cello) - were quick to receive praise from critics who hailed such releases as Haydn: Quatuors a Cordes (2008), Mendelssohn: Quarters A Cordes Opus 13 & Opus 80 (2010), and Brahms (2011). After an extensive world tour, the Modigliani Quartet returned in 2012 with Intuition, an opus dedicated to the early works of Mozart, Schubert, and Arriaga. Between the releases of Haydn (2014) and Schumann: Quatuor à Cordes Op. 41 (2017), Philippe Bernard (violin) left the quartet and was replaced by Amaury Coeytaux, formerly the concertmaster of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. The Modigliani Quartet has continued to perform on stages around the world as well as release several critically acclaimed albums including Schubert: The String Quartets (2022).
