Philippe Ferro

French flutist, conductor and pedagogue Philippe Ferro was born in 1967. He began his musical studies on the flute, followed by chamber music and conducting at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, before moving on to teaching. Solo flautist with the Orchestre Poitou-Charentes from 1992 to 2000, he also plays with the Quatuor Arcadie. Appointed director of the Musique des Gardiens de la Paix de Paris in 2000, he held this post until 2008, when he made his first recording, La Nouvelle Cythère (2002), dedicated to the composer and member of the Groupe des Six, Germaine Tailleferre. President of AFEEV (Association française pour l'essor des ensembles à vent), he has conducted the Orchestre d'Harmonie de la Région Centre since 1992, with whom he records works by contemporary composers on the albums Hommages (2015) and Images du Temps (2016). Appointed Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2006, the conductor also collaborates with the Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre symphonique de Bretagne and Ensemble 2e2m. He teaches chamber music at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Paris and the Conservatoire de Boulogne-Billancourt.
