Palast Orchester

The Palast Orchester was founded in 1986 by twelve music students in Berlin and mainly plays popular music from the 1920s and 1930s. The musical director is the singer Max Raabe. The ensemble achieved greater fame when their song "Kein Schwein ruft mich an" was used in the 1994 film Der bewegte Mann . This was followed by numerous tours, not only in German-speaking countries, but also in the USA and Japan. The orchestra not only plays original compositions from the 1920s and 30s, but also new compositions and cover versions of current pop songs, which they dress up in a retro musical guise. The album Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus , released in 1997, reached number 64 in the German album charts. in 1999, the album Ein Freund, ein guter Freund reached number 38 in the Austrian charts. in 2006, the album Komm, lass uns einen Rumba tanzen was released, which was successful in both Germany and Austria. Küssen kann man nicht allein , released in 2011, went platinum in Germany. in 2017, the album Der perfekte Moment... wird heut verpennt was released , reached number 15 in the German charts and number 17 in the Austrian charts and was awarded gold.
