Olaf

German singer Olaf Malolepski rose to fame as a member of legendary schlager group Die Flippers. Formed in the late '60s, Die Flippers became one of the most successful schlager acts of all time, selling over 40 million records in their storied, decades-spanning career. When the band finally retired in April 2011, Malolepski wasted no time launching a successful solo career, delivering his debut, Tausend Rote Rosen, in October of that year. The album went gold, proving there was still a thriving fan base willing to support the former Flipper who now went solely by his first name, Olaf. A follow-up arrived the next year, followed in 2013 by his first Christmas LP. Seemingly like clockwork, the tireless Olaf continued to deliver a new album each year, with Ich Mach's Wie die Sonnenuhr arriving in 2014. While 2015 would see no new material, it was later revealed that he'd been busy in the studio recording Du Bist Wie Champagner: Zum Jubiläum Nur das Beste, a double album he released in 2016 to coincide with his 70th birthday. The album reached number six on the German pop charts, making it his most successful solo venture yet.
