Nasro

Algerian-born raï singer Nasereddine Souïdi, aka Cheb Nasro, was born on November 30, 1969. Particularly prolific, he released his first album in 1987, Raï Masters Vol. 1 , and has since released over 130. His success in Algeria and around the world is considerable, and he calls himself the Prince of Sentimental Raï, considered one of the best in the style along with the late Cheb Hasni. His instrument of choice is the synthesizer, and in his instrumentation, electric guitars can also be found on his tracks, giving a particular color to his approach to raï. One of his biggest hits, released in 1992, is " N'direk amour ", set to the theme of Santana's " Europa ". He sings almost all his songs in Arabic, and produces a few tracks in French. The artist left Algeria in 1997 and settled in Miami. He signed a contract with Melodia Records, becoming the only Raï artist to sign with an American label. Since 1998, his albums have been produced by American directors, and his style has evolved, but the naswaras, as his fans are called, remain as loyal as ever. The artist remains productive, releasing two albums in 2022, Kingoul Lila and Cheb Nasro.
