Michael Kolk
Michael Kolk is a Canadian guitarist who won acclaim as a performer of classical music after winning regional competitions and appearing at festivals and in concert halls around the world. He studied music at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto and the University of Toronto. He has performed with the Toronto Philharmonia, Canadian Opera Company, Opera in Concert and Tapestry Opera.
His albums include 'Platero y Yo: An Andalusian Elegy' (2012) which features works by Eduardo Sainz de la Maza, Manuel Ponce, Joaquin Rodrigo and Augustine Barrios, 'Mosaic: Classical Guitar Favourites' (2014) featuring works by Bach, Tárrega, Albéniz, Villa-Lobos, Debussy, Barrios, Brouwer and Giuliani, and 'Nocturnes' which contains 24 nocturnes for solo guitar composed by Nick Peros. He has also recorded with guitarist Jeffrey McFadden and with Drew Henderson in the Henderson-Kolk duo. His 2018 schedule included performances at venues in Saskatchewan and Quebec.
