LPB Poody

Florida rapper LPB Poody brings energetic swagger to his lyrics about intense lived experiences, trouble with the law, and losing friends. His rap career grew as the turbulence in his life continued, releasing mixtapes like 2019's Solitary Konfinement shortly before being injured in a shooting. LPB Poody was born Robert Lee Perry, Jr. in Orlando in 1999. His interest in music began with learning how to DJ but quickly transitioned to rapping, and he was performing under the nickname Poody by his early teens. Around 2018, he added LPB to his name, short for "Light Pole Baby," and began releasing music online. By this time, he'd been arrested multiple times and looked to music as a way to turn his life around. Early tracks like "Fresh Out da Dentist" led to collaborations with artists like Hotboii, Rod Wave, and 9lokknine and his 2018 mixtape Streetz Callin'. He returned in 2019 with the project Solitary Konfinement. In April of 2020, Poody was involved in a shooting that took the life of his friend and high school football player Dexter Rentz, Jr. Shortly after this, he released his single "Address It," which became his most popular song up until that point, streaming millions of times within weeks of its release.
