Lena Park

Though Lena Park, born Park Jung-hyun on March 23, 1976, became a superstar in Korea, she was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, to Korean parents. She gained experience singing as a child in church and began her career with the Korean album Piece in 1998. The follow-up, 1999’s A Second Helping went to number 5 in Korea, and 2000’s Naturally climbed to number 3. She took some time away from music to continue her college studies in the United States, but 2002’s Op. 4 proved to be her breakthrough. The album hit number 2 and spun off a pair of hit singles, “In Dreams”, and “Let’s Get Together Now”, which appeared on the 2002 FIFA World Cup Official Album. Now more fluent in Korean, Park was able to do more effective promotion for her work, and she became affectionately known in Korea as “The Nation’s Fairy”. Her command of Korean was apparent on 2005’s On & On, which included the number 11 hit Lost Child”, and for 2007’s Come to Where I Am, she wrote every song on the album. She graduated from Columbia University in 2010 and then returned to her show business career by becoming a consistent cultural presence. She won the competition show I Am A Singer – Best 10 in 2013. She branched out, working as a DJ for KBS World Radio New where she spoke English. She performed on the second season of Begin Again, performing her hit songs in foreign countries. She had one of the biggest hits of her career with 2014’s “SsSs”, and released her first album in seven years, The Wonder, in 2019. In 2020 she released the single “My Wish”, which would appear on her new album, Sky Flowers.
