Lee Suhyun

Born on May 4, 1999 in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, Lee Su-hyun is a singer and actress. She first came to prominence in 2014 on the television competition show K-Pop Star, in which she performed alongside her brother Lee Chan-hyuk as the duo AKMU. The duo came in first place on the show and released their debut album Play, which reached Number 1 on the South Korean Albums chart and entered the Billboard Heatseakers and World Music charts. The album earned the duo the Best Pop Album award at the Korean Music Awards. Su-hyun then collaborated with labelmate Lee Hi as the project sub-unit Hi Suhyun. Their single “I’m Different” topped the charts in South Korea. Su-hyun reunited with her brother in 2017 for the second AKMU album Winter. The album’s first single, “Re-Bye”, hit Number 1 on the South Korean Singles chart. Su-hyun also appeared on the television show Relationship Appeal and created her own popular YouTube channel. AKMU was put on hold when her brother enlisted in the Korean Marine Corps. She then became a cast member on the reality program Begin Again. She appeared on a variety of television program throughout 2019. She then became the DJ/host of radio show AKMU’s Lee Su-hyun Volume Up, which earned her a Radio DJ Award at the 16th KBS Entertainment Awards. Once her brother was discharged from the Marine Corps, the duo recorded their third album, Sailing, released in 2019. While Su-hyun had released solo tracks on various soundtracks for South Korean production – including the Korean version of Mulan – she released her first official solo single, “Alien”, in October, 2020.
