Larry Callahan & Selected Of God

Singer and old-school choir director maestro Larry Callahan was born December 5, 1975, and immersed in the music of church, he was directing local church choirs by the time he was six years old, a calling he made his own, developing into one of the finest choir directors in the U.S. Callahan and his 22-voice Detroit choir, the Selected of God, released an album, The Evolution, in 2010. By now a pastor at Praise Tabernacle Church in Detroit, Callahan and the choir he founded came to the general public's attention when they were featured in Eminem's highly viewed and admired Chrysler Super Bowl XLV commercial in 2011. Consequently, the choir's second album, The Evolution II, produced by Asaph Ward and Stephen Anderson-Day, and which continued to blend traditional gospel and gospel choir dynamics with contemporary praise songs and sounds, drew considerably more attention when it appeared in 2012.
