Krizz Kaliko

Krizz Kaliko is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and voice actor whose music fearlessly crosses the boundaries of hip-hop, country, pop, and even opera. He first became known for his collaborations with former Strange Music labelmate Tech N9ne, and throughout a productive and wide-ranging discography he collaborated with stars like Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Korn, E-40, and many, many more. After the release of his 2020 album Legend, Krizz Kaliko launched his independent label Ear House Inc. in 2021. The label served as a platform for the rapper's solo output, and he also collaborated with various other artists, as on his country-rap project Hoodbillies with Colt Ford, who released a self-titled EP in 2023. Krizz Kaliko was born Samuel William Christopher Watson in Kansas City, Missouri. He first came on the scene collaborating with his fellow Kansas City MC Tech N9ne. In 2007, he made an appearance on the Kottonmouth Kings' album Cloud Nine. A year later he released his debut solo album, Vitiligo, the title being a reference to a skin disorder that Kaliko suffers from that causes skin to lose pigment in certain areas. In 2009 he returned with the ambitious Genius, a dramatic, dark album featuring a guest shot from E-40. His 2010 release, Shock Treatment, was a much lighter album, filled with club tracks and strip club anthems. 2012's Kickin' & Screamin' combined the two styles, offering the sweet along with the sour, and T-Pain and Twista as the rapper's guests. Son of Sam followed in 2013, its title referencing Krizz's real name, Sam Watson. In 2016, he returned with "Stop the World," a hope-filled single that focused on depression and the MC's own battle with mental illness. 2020's Legend would be his last album with Tech N9ne's Strange Music label, and he formed his own label Ear House Inc. the next year. The label served as a home for singles such as 2022's "Gifted (featuring Shoo Shoo)" and 2024's alt rock/country/hip-hop track "Painkiller," a collaboration with Landen Purifoy. Krizz also works as a voice actor, voicing Dinobot in the Netflix series Transformers, among other roles. In addition to musical and acting pursuits, he also performs motivational speaking appearances centered around mental health awareness.
